Storm Damage

We had a bad storm roll through Shelbyville last night. Shelbyville was under a tornado warning around 12:45 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. We spent some time in the bathtub which is the safest place in our house. Rachel thought it was time to play and have a good time. Jack was scared! So was I! Chris was watching the television to keep track of what was going on with the weather. It was a loud, scary storm, but it didn't last very long. We finally got to sleep sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Jack was worried about not getting enough sleep for school the next day. I got a phone call at 5:30 a.m. this morning from Jodie telling me that school was closed today. I went into the living room and turned on the television and she was right! Schools were closed because of trees across roads making it impossible for buses to get through and because of power outages. We had lots of shingles in our front yard, but they weren't from our house. A couple of houses one street over from us lost LOTS of shingles from their roofs. It looks like our roof is missing some shingles here and there, but nothing major. We also have a piece of siding bent backwards and just hanging. Jack, Rachel, and I decided to take a drive to see what kind of damage the storm caused. Some of the pictures are too dark to tell what's going on in the picture. We saw lots of damage, but I couldn't get a picture of everything we saw because I was driving! Safety first!! Our neighborhood had lots of damage to roofs and siding. There were fences torn down, basketball goals knocked over, several trampolines destroyed, and many trees split down the middle. It might be hard to see in some of the pictures, but on the way to my parents' house there is a line of utility poles that are just snapped right in two! We are very thankful that God kept us safe during the storm!

Wow! I was scared like you and Jack and I was worried about not getting enough sleep! Jodie didn't call me though, and I was up and ready for school!!! What a bummer! Thank goodness we all survived!
